]]> Rattler on the porch! Coming up on our 1-year anniversary of moving to the desert, we had our first rattler on our porch - a Western Diamondback! Our little dog was going crazy and as we approached him we heard a sound like water spraying from a hose leak. Turns out the spray sound was actually this 3' long feller curled up in the corner shaking his rattle. We scooped the dog away quickly - fortunately the snake did not strike him. Humans usually live thru a rattler bite, but a 12 pound pooch would have quite a fight for his survival! After we rescued the dog, we called the FD to rescue the snake. They arrived a few minutes later with their snake stick and snagged him easily. They were going to set him free across the street (SOP), but when they set him down it was clear that he wasn't going to make it. We think that he must've got his neck twisted during the process. I have used distilled water with sodium bicarbonate since KOH and NaOH is hard to buy here. It is a 12 plate 4x4 stainless steel. Arranged at +nnnn-nnnnn+. I am using a car battery in my car, even by start up, it is producing a very small amount of gas, its not appreciative. No leaks and the plates and connections are not touching each other (shorted). ]]> spoon powered hydro electricity First of all, for the observant I must say that I did use a non deepcycle battery, but it was free and this project is still at the experimental stage, I'm not even sure how long the brown wooden box will last or the handheld generator or those kitchen spoons, but time will tell. This run of the river project is insanely inefficient mainly because of the half inch hose, which should really be 90 feet of 1 inch PVC, but the materials were easily acquired and installed. After I've watched this project for a while I'll more than likely upgrade the main components as they breakdown. Also it's really important to add a fuse or a low amperage breaker at one of the battery terminals simply because the odds of a mouse chewing through the wires or a tree falling over them in the next 10 years is huge. Most of these batteries can put out enough cold cranking amps to catch any log cabin on fire or create a forest fire. The hand generator only makes about 3-5 watts of hydro electricity per hour and therefore does not need a voltage regulator but is just directly hooked up to the 12v battery and functions very much like a trickle charger does. A DC to AC inverter may be hooked up to the battery terminals if you want house voltage, though I recommend attaching a switch to it in order to turn the inverter off when it's not being used in order to save power. The funny thing is that most of my electricity needs are 12vdc, including that 13watt CFL bulb so I might never hook up the <b>...</b>


]]> 1969 PLYMOUTH ROADRUNNER CONVERTIBLE FOR SALE UPDATE SOLD!! This 1969 Roadrunner bucket seat convertible was purchased new at PK Chrysler Plymouth in Shamokin, Pa. 17872 on May 21, 1970 a full year after it was built. It was sold to a gentleman that lived, and still does, in Mount Carmel, Pa. about 6 miles from Shamokin, Pa. and the car has been there ever since. The build date on the car was June 17, 1969 at the St. Louis, Missouri plant. The car has 91636 orignal miles. The car is near all original except for tires, belts, hoses, one repaint, same original color burished bronze metallic and also the drivers side entire quater panel replaced back in 1975 due to a fender bender. The bumpers and all of the trim is original and are very clean. The bumpers do show a little chrome fade but are rust free. The car still retains the rest of it's original sheetmetal and is 99% rust free except for a very small amout of filler used to blend in the driver quarter that was replaced. The power convertible top is the original one and is in beautiful condition. This car is a 2 owner car. I personally know both owners and have talked to them about the history of the car. It was garage kept most of it's life, not all but most, this is the reason for being 99% rust free. Now to the full condition of the car. Again it is 99% rust free. The floors, doors, cowl, rad support, fenders, hood, trunck extentions, inner fender and quarter wells, passenger quater panel and trunk are all original to the car with the exception for the driver side entire <b>...</b>

Compost blankets have gained broader acceptance as a green best management practice and have been accepted for low-impact development (LID). LID is a post-construction design and implementation methodology that strives to have a site's post-development hydro-logic flow and cycle patterns mimic the natural pre-development patterns. More on this project can be found the NC WRC's website. Workers from the NC Wildlife Resources Commission are repairing an aging dam on High Rock Pond on the R. Wayne Bailey-Caswell Game Lands in preparation for opening a Public Fishing Area. The work includes removing the old water-control structure that had deteriorated and started to leak. Workers from the Commission's Division of Engineering Services and Division of Inland Fisheries are cutting into the dam and adding a more substantial structure that should give better results by cradling a 12 inch PVC pipe in concrete. When the dam is complete, High Rock Pond, which is just off Stephentown Road in Yanceyville, will be refilled.

]]> How to join cast iron pipe or copper pipe to plastic pipe using fernco couplings. 32 years of experience has taught me to use a few tricks when it comes to repairing plumbing problems. A reciprocating saw and a few metal cutting blades will cut your cast iron pipe and then you can attach your fernco coupling and you are all set to run your plastic pipe. When cutting cast-iron pipe it is best to buy blades that are better in quality as cast is very hard. I prefer Lennox blades with 18 teeth per inch and the gold brand if possible. You can try a set of cast iron cutters, but you are taking the chance of the cast cracking or crushing if it is old.
