Look at the big picture, due to the so called over populated govermental controlled world where would be the best place to drop a bomb to control population and gain more governmental control? The logical answer is obvious "On the land of the FREE" get ready for the next inside 911 it will be a earth shaker - They are not called GoverMental for nothing !!!

Vire70 Says:
That may be - but how do you split water into oxygen and hydrogen? Electrolysis. What does that require? Electricity. Lots of it. Enough that the Hydrogen you receive from doing it barely outweigh what you put into it to get it to split - as far as I understand anyway. It is not 'hundreds of times more efficient than fossil fuels' at all.
MrSmallfurryanimal Says:
Then you're wrong. It's possible to split water into oxygen and hydrogen. Burning hydrogen is hundreds of times more efficient than fossil fuels and the only waste product is water. You can use solar energy to do this too so there's no need to burn fossil fuels to get the energy to split the water molecules. The only problem is the storage of the hydrogen.

I don't think it's feasible to use water as a fuel source like that.
Vire70 Says:
I guess that's what happens when you have a societal economy based entirely upon greed and self-interest. I still can't figure out why anyone thought capitalism would last.
nintendopi Says:
According to the Wikipedia article on peak oil, (pinch of salt recommended) maybe. It's tough to define. Some pessimistic reports say we peaked in 2006, optimistic predictions say we will peak around 2020. There's no sure fire way to be sure though.
Vosbraka Says:
I am a pessimist. I dont think that we humans are able to lay down our personal desires for a greater good. Using water,AKA Hydrogen Fusion, might be the only hope in order to continue working on this trend. In order to fix this issue, people should understand and work towards a 0 Economic growth policy.I don think that that would ever happen though,Greed is a very strong factor here. I do think that is the same with alternative resources.Nobody wants to give up growth for the greater good.
mobiussquadron Says:
If we stop breeding then we continue doing things inefficiently, just on a smaller scale.... It's so obvious that we need to stop breeding that i didn't feel the need to mention it.
Vosbraka Says:
the only solution to this problem is to stop breeding... Its also much less demanding.
mobiussquadron Says:
If we started using water as a fuel source, we would have SIGNIFICANT advantages over using oil as a fuel. We have a much better idea of how much water there is on this planet. I highly doubt that even over the course of a hundred years we could lower the oceans level by even one mm, by which time a better energy source will most likely be found. This combined with making things more energy efficient would solve the problems for quite some time.

Has peak oil been reached yet?

Economic growth at all costs is insanity - just witness recent events. It is killing our home Earth = finite The super rich of today will be dead and gone & the earth will still be fucked up...is it worth it?

Let me clarify; we should stop current growth and switch to sustainable power generation methods. Any growth what so ever, should only be allowed for specific, good reasons, and strictly controlled. If anything we need to reduce the world population by half.
JMaSsA11 Says:
why does this have more views than part 5? wtf
whisper0555 Says:
My goodness. You and 10 other people clearly did not understand the series of videos, even after coming this far. Poor Dr. Albert A. Bartlett's presentation is completely wasted on some people. Bottom line, any long term consistent growth, no matter how small, WILL consume all supply of whatever resource you care to imagine, given enough time.
IuseanXboxController Says:
Do not push for water as a fuel supply. Dumbest idea known to man kind. We need water to live not to drive around with. If anything, cap hydrothermal vents and get energy from sun. But please don't start sucking up the oceans.
