Ever think about why we were created to run, especially long distances? Ever wonder about the joy we get from running? youtube.com/watch?v=T0cZNKTIweQ

Unfortunately, that's a larger question and without watching the specifics of your biomechanics we can't really be sure what's going on. If you can, leave a video response to this and we'll take a look. The biggie though would likely come from some sort of imbalance which is very often a result of overstriding and/or landing on your heel first.

How do you stop hip joint pain when you run? Do i twist my body to much when i run or something? im only 20
spastic54 Says:
If you are already a forefoot runner, these will feel good and fast. You would probably like these for tempo runs and road workouts and such. For someone who is already a forefoot striker they will feel like they offer the speed of a flat while providing you with some support.

WHY ARE EVEN THE MOST SEEMINGLY-SIMPLE THINGS SO COMPLICATED?! Do I have to do frickin' research to do anything "right"?! Nah... but wow. World is really too much information.

I like this method of running but I have a quick question. It looks like you guys are running pretty tight in the shoulders. Is there a reason for this? When I run I find it more comfortable to drop the shoulders a bit and let my arms swing more (not side to side of course). Is it inefficient for me to relax my shoulders?

I have been running for over 20 years and just got my 1st pair of Newtons. Kinda like em -- but I am definitely here (on youtube right now) to see videos and make sure I am using the right form. Definitely a bit of a learning curve. Hope to grow to love them over the next few weeks :)

Really liked this one. But I'd love a modern film. With HD :)

Also, since I was a forefoot striker anyways, it only took me 30 or 40 miles to get used to it. Just be careful, be smart. I see too many people who like the idea of minimalist running so they go out and get an expensive pair of shoes that ends up wrecking their legs and motivation. Remember that everyone's body is different and we won't all see success from the same things.

I have the Neutral Distancia and I like it a lot. I haven't had it too long, I think I have put maybe 150-200 miles on it. I don't really wear it too often, mostly just for tempo runs or a day when I don't mind doing an easy run a little faster than economy pace. All in all I would say a great shoe, but I don't really recommend it for a nonserious runner. I don't wear this shoe unless I plan on going under 6:30/mile.

All the people talking smack on here don't even own a pair of Newton's. I know some serious tri athletes that swear by these which convinced me to get some. I have never had a better run. Newton's are not for everyone but they work great for me.
getsickiebrah Says:
Hey Magna, pretty sure that Craig Alexander, a 3 time ironman world champion would disagree with you that elite runners don't wear newtons.

I see idiots running with an artificially short stride.

Is Newton a shoe company? I've never heard of them
magnapillow Says:
sorry just one more thing....the whole principle behind Newton running is so narrow minded, it assumes that the human natural form for running is the best.... Fast/good runners will naturally progress to forefoot running in any shoe once they get fast enough, furthermore, the majority of the (non forefoot runners) do so because they are not running fast enough to make it natural or economical... which bring me back to my first point, fast/good runners don't wear Newtons for a reason
magnapillow Says:
There's a reason why you never see elite athletes wearing Newtons.....i shouldn't have to explain myself. Likewise, there is a reason why nearly everyone i see wearing Newtons is slow or relatively new to running...

What idiot runs on their heel? Like serious?
