E-mail crime alerts are sent to all students, faculty, and staff when there is a need to be notified of a crime, but something that is not necessarily an immanent threat or danger. For those, the college encourages students sign up for text messages sent directly to students' phone. 16,642 students have heeded the advice. Students say they feel safe knowing they are alerted.
