If you want to read a great novel featuring the sinking of the H.M.S. Royal Oak, go on Amazon.com and reference "The Cost of Courage" by Joseph Cordaro.

Not to mention according to this clip 'the submarine was the most feared weapon at sea' and 'sounded the death knell for the battleships' - uh, i thought that was the aircraft carrier.

Hi mate,
the original german book-title is:
"Mein Weg nach Scapa Flow" (Günther Prien)
You will be surprised that there is not much propaganda against
the Royal Navy or Britain.
The only obvious mistake was, the he wrote he had sunk
the Repulse as well. But this mistake might happen, because
it was night when he attacked the vessels.
If you find the book, please let me know, I would like to buy a copy as well.

The book was originaly called "The man who sank the Royal Oak" and was also available over here, postwar, as "U-Boat Commander" ..( presuming you are refering to Priens autobiography.)

First my salut to those who died when the ship was sunk.
I have read Guenther Priens book "My way to Scapa Flow", printed in 1940. Althoug war literature was subject to propaganda, Prien never mentioned that Scapa flow was targeted because of the end of german ships after WW1. And although there was war, he NRVER made unrespectful comments about the Royal Navy.
He only cynically mentioned a news-comment from BBC right after the attack, that his boat was sunk.
Royal Oak, rest in peace.
