Thanks for posting this. It is one of the most underrated films of its era. Railsback (sp) was first seen by me as Manson in the two part TV movie. I swear the guy not only looked like him, but acted like him. I'm old enough to remember the trial and the killings. Yes, some of the script here was a bit subpar... But as the film points out, it is all about the MESSAGE! I encourage all to view this with that in mind. What was "Eli" trying to tell his audience? A film about war, that was an ant

Yeah, I saw this movie when it aired on HBO in the early 80's, and I remember really liking it. Probably thought Railsback was hot in my own secret way. And yes he was hot, but he is also a very good actor too, and he is quite excellent in this movie, as are Peter O'Toole and Barbara Hershey (I believe she starred in The Entity right after, and was nominated for an Oscar for that, and another movie that holds up years later). Saw this movie 20 years later and it holds up nicely...a true classic.

I loved this movie. Peter O'Toole is on record as saying "The Stunt Man wasn't released, it escaped." Helps explain why it never got quite the recognition it deserved.
