Furthermore The Stones are not the best rock band in the history of rock.Longevity does not dictate anyone being the best! There is no best rock band nor a worst rock band. There is no list from 1 to 1000 saying in chronological order that this band is best of listed as 1000.The "best" as you put it is only in the eyes of the one saying it.In my eyes there is no best.If longevity were the factor then Golden Earring would be the world's best band. They have been together even longer than the Stones.

you are welcome. Have no issue we clarifying issues especially where unfounded negative comments are passed. Listening to these recordings of the Earing live now is truly impressive they are perhaps tighter in their performance now than in their supposed heyday. And to think that they still pay sets of 21 songs many as much as eight to ten minutes in duration remains very impressive.

I do, too. This is easily my favorite song because it's what introduced me to Golden Earring. It's sad that the radio stations here don't play Golden Earring songs as much as they should! I suppose I'll start constantly request they play songs even if all they have is "Twilight Zone" and "Radar Love." Thanks for the internet because then I get to hear more songs. :) I'm happy to say that Golden Earring is now my favorite band.

Thanks dude for rebutting our little buddy (dic)tater. What you said was quite complete.it seems we can't even explain facts to these hardheads about bands like Golden Earring. If you read his reply to mine you will see where he is trying to say that I said G E is more successful than the Stones which of course I did not.The he tries to tell me the Stones are airplyed more than GE.Well on my rock stations here I hear GE quite often. So thanks for the help trimleyman.

yes the Stones are more successful than Golden Earring. But that is to be expected . The British Rock industry has always out performed in media play and record sales mainland Europe. But that does not denigrate European, bands it has always been a matter of exposure. Most in the UK would not have ever listened to Golden Earring if it were not for the Iconic Radio Veronica and that gave bands such as the Earring a chance to venture across the pond. Golden Earring are still superb.

It's not about redundant air play, it's about the soul of the music. The rock of today is a regurgition of three chord harmonies, these new so called rockers are so locked up in their three chord harmonies that they can't even figure out how to get out of their own octaves. The old bands knew that staying in the same format spelled out failure for them, everything they did with music was an experiment, they knew how to play out of the box, and how to last in music history, rock on Golden Earring

To say that golden earring is more successful than the stones is really a foolish comment the stones are probally the most successful band in rok history, and then to go on saying that you really don't have to break into the u.s. market is another rather foolish comment, turn on your radio some day check out how many times you hear golden earring compared to the stones i rest my case

Yes they did in their country.... Other then Moontan none of their other albums charted anywhere in Europe... As for here in the U.S.A. again other then Moontan I really can't say why.... It wasn't until C.U.T. came out that they gained some moderate recognition again... But not nearly as much as I feel they should have gotten...Their other earlier albums should have done better then they did... there is some really good music to be heard on their other albums not just on Moontan!

Amen brother! I live here in the states and I love Golden Earring. I do wish they had of gotten a bigger name for themselves here in the U S,but they did not. So thanks to you tube,I can see footage of them where otherwise I could not. I don't mind stepping into the Twilight Zone!

To be a great rock band doesn't mean that they have to be mega big here in the states. They are bigger and more well known in Europe than the US.Just because most of us Americans only know Radar Love and Twilight Zone doesn't mean that they are a 2 hit wonder band because they certainly are not. They have been together longer than any band including the Stones.Doesn't matter if everyone 30 or younger doesn't know Golden Earring. Those that do know them know of their talents as musicians/writers.
