Here's a little gem in the Rush catalog. A short song but very tricky at places. Another song I had to learn recently for my band and it took a while to get a decent version of it - I'm still working on it. The bells are played on my Roland SPD-20 pads, programmed as a glockenspiel for the, hmm, ... More

I agree with the "very tricky" comment, to those that dont play the drums it may not sound like the flashiest song that Rush play, but the first few times I tried to play it - I found it to be a co-ordination nightmare, it has to be Neil's busiest hi hat part in terms of foot play. After a good few sessions of practice I found it to be quite easy to play, it has also really helped me with limb independance.

It's the bells from the spd-20 sound bank.
thunderchild2112 Says:
Do you have the bells on the spd-20 or u have to import?

Very Nice! I have been playing Rush on guitar since for 25 years and I can count only one other person that can play Rush on the drums correct. You make two! And even saying that, you play it better than the other guy! Amazing!

HOLY CRAP! YOU'RE AMAZING! I was playing this note for note on guitar when I was 16, when the album came out, and I wish I could find a drummer this good in Chicago. We could make a great living as a tribute band. Man, you're great, bro! Even the bells!

You did very well on one of my favorite Rush songs! But, when it comes to the drumming of this song, I can hear everything well, except for the base drum. I like to learn pieces on my own, but I could'nt hear the base drum. It looks like you're playing straight eighth notes (except on the snare hits) on a lot of the parts. I was wondering if you could help me and give me the counting to the bass on the chorus (for example, would you count the bass 1+(2)+3+(4)+ ? ) Thanks!!

Any chance on live material with the band?
Astrotama Says:
Thanks! This one took lots of work and I'm still working on it.... I'm more confortable with it now since I've been playing this with my band for months.
